Who I Am

I enjoy creating imagery that combines different symbolism from history, religion, the occult, tradition, culture, and fantasy. In my art I explore and twist with intent to transcend this imagery from traditional meaning into new ideas relevant to the culture we live in now. I am not an aspiring artist, I am a compulsive one. I am a man who defines himself by what he creates. A man who thinks about the past, present, and future of humanity and transmutes that energy onto paper. I have lived some of my most influential years in Europe, soaking in the history, theology, and mythology of man. I studied Scandinavian folklore while living in Norway. I wandered the hallways and archives of the Uffizi and the Academia while studying in Florence. Examining the works of Lysippos, Botticelli, Leonardo Da Vinci, and Masaccio formed the basis of my classical technique and aesthetics that are clear influences in the work I create.
My pieces are narratives, with layers of intent and meaning. I am a vigorous reader of graphic novels, science fiction, epic fantasy, and history. My passion for the art of storytelling permeates my work and blends classical anthology with fantasy and folklore. This has opened me up to modern influences such as H. R. Giger, Moebius, Alex Ross, and Jodorowsky. Being versed in other disciplines such as the esoteric and the occult, art history, cosmology, and quantum physics has created balance in my art and grounded my intellect. I am an artist who is not afraid to ask the deeper questions and above all values a good conversation over a hot cup of coffee.
